Hi there,

Over 20,000 people have already told David Cameron to stop Osborne sabotaging progress on climate change.

If these Conservatives have their way, we'll have more dirty, expensive gas power stations written into the Energy Bill. The bill is crucial in shaping the way our electricity is generated for the next 30 years.

Osborne wants to hand the Energy Bill - and our future - to the gas companies, allowing them to build dozens of new gas power stations. This dash for gas could lead to decades of unrestricted carbon emissions and increasingly volatile household bills, plunging more people into fuel poverty.

We need the opposite, so join the campaign for a future built on clean energy.

A clean Energy Bill would mean almost zero carbon emissions from electricity generation by 2030, a new wave of clean energy and a thriving green economy with tens of thousands of new jobs.

A majority of us - 64% of the British public - want renewable energy powering our lives.

Osborne knows he's in the minority, and recent investigations shows he's positioning climate sceptics and anti-wind MPs in key government roles - like pieces on a chessboard - to undermine the progress we've made.

But Osborne still answers to the prime minister.

It now falls to David Cameron to respond to the scandal we've uncovered and decide where his party - and our country - is going.

At the last election when looking for our votes, Cameron rebranded the Conservative party with the environment at its heart. Our undercover investigation shows he has a fundamental question to answer: will he side with the majority of the British public, or the dirty energy faction led by George Osborne?

In the Uk, its a farm that houses 1800 cows! The cows are milked 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and do not graze the grass surrounding the farm. In the USA, a dairy herd can reach 30,000 in number.

Last year a mega-dairy farm in Wales got retrospective planning permisson to house 1800 cattle on the one farm. Although campaign groups are now trying to change this. More info...

Compassion in World Farming, The Soil Association, the Campaign for Real Farming, World Society for the Protection of Animals, the National Trust and others want support for their campaign - Not in My Cuppa - questioning whether you would drink factory milk from battery cows?

The Woodland Trust are campaigning against merging 25+ planning laws into just one, and have serious concerns that this means the only specific planning policy which protects vulnerable ancient woods and trees will be diluted at best, at worst left out completely.

Demand for Allotments – Can You Help?

In the last year the demand for allotments has increased the average waiting list is now 59 people per 100 plots. That’s gone up by 20% in just one year. It’s pretty obvious that local councils are failing in their legal duty to provide sufficient allotments.

Now we all know times are hard and the bankers have run off with the piggy bank but allotments are relatively cheap to set up and very cheap to run compared with things like leisure centres. There really is no excuse for most councils not to take some action.

Sadly some of our local councils can’t even be bothered to keep proper records and respond to a survey. It’s a disgrace, especially when you consider the social benefits of allotments and community gardens.

Of course, nothing much will happen unless we can show these people that the problem is important to us. Generally, politicians of whatever party at whatever level take little notice of things unless they think there are votes in it. So if we don’t ask we won’t get.

Bob Russell, MP for Colchester, has put down an early day motion (EDM 687) stating:-

That this House welcomes the big increase in home-grown vegetables, with seed sales up 14 per cent last year; is pleased that the number of people wanting an allotment has increased by 20 per cent in the past 12 months; is concerned that according to the National Society for Allotment and Leisure Gardeners there are 100,000 people on waiting lists for an allotment; and calls on the Government, local authorities, other public bodies and private landlords to make land available for new allotments.
