Ashurst/Totton

The ACCG is holding its AGM on Tuesday 7th May evening at Longdown Activity Farm (Deerleap Lane).

Andy Brennan from the National Park Authority will be talking about the sustainability of the New Forest.  There'll be reports on the various projects the group is involved with (Community Apple Pressing, Litter Picking, Cycle Path improvements etc) and a chance for you to whip up a local fruit smoothie on the New Forest Food Challenge's Smoothie Bike!  How could you resist!!

Thanks to a grant from the New Forest National Park Authority's
Sustainable Development Fund the Ashurst and Colbury Community Group now
has a range of apple pressing equipment and will be showing it off on 6
Oct!

Bring your apples (if you have any after the poor season this year!!)
for juicing and imbibe the produce!  You can play apple games and eat
apply food etc etc....

An opportunity to swap/donate/buy seeds and some seedlings and learn
about the Ashurst & Colbury Community Group's ideas for a garden
share project....

A Totton/Ashurst Transition Group is developing!  Eight of us met in the King Rufus pub last Wednesday to discuss what we might do as a project.

We want to encourage others to join us and so agreed that we would have a stall (if the organisers will let us) at the Totton Fun Day on 12 June 2010.  We're all now thinking hard about what we will do there!  Favourite at the moment is the Human Fruit Machine.....  And we want to invite anyone interested to another more specific event to build up the Transition presence in Totton.

Tuesday 25 May 2010 at the Village Bells pub in Eling (we like pubs as you can see!)

There is a community garden next to St Mary's church, Eling Hill (next to Totton).  It is an open garden where you put as much work as you feel you can into it, and pick veg fruit when it is ripe, you pick as much as you feel you have earned from the work you put in.  We have community digging sessions there but also, it is the type of place where you can go down when ever you are free and work on your own or if you are just passing by you can go in for 10 mins and see if its watered.  You can garden the garden with a method as best as you think you can ( as long as you  know someone may garden differently) and the only rule is try to keep it as organic as possible, if you slip up, learn from it and try and make it organic again.
