Circle Dancing is the oldest form of community dance which is still to be seen in parts of the Balkans, Greece, Israel and Spain. Coming from a mixture of traditional folk dances and contemporary dances, it is joyful, uplifting and meaningful.

Barbara is an experienced international teacher and she will be leading us through some simple dances which we will dance together in a circle - no partner is necessary. So please join us as we dance to a
variety of music and rhythms from around the world - celebrating May time, community and oneness.

The training is facilitated by Jonathan Blease and Eleni Palánzas.
Jonathan is current Co-chairman of the New Forest Transition Group, and is a third generation New Forest resident. He has completed three Transition Training courses, including the first Inner Transition Training in January (2013). He is a qualified counsellor, with a special interest in individual and cultural life stories.
Lena has lived in the New Forest area for over 15 years. She has qualifications in environmental sciences, sustainable water use for health, and has worked in both the UK and overseas. She has over 10 years experience in education. She completed the Inner Transition Training in 2013.

Three Musketeers: Reusing, recycling and reducing the audience to tears!

I wondered for a while about posting this - doesn't seem 'Transitiony' at first but the more I thought about it the more I thought I should......

The Colbury & Ashurst Theatrical Society is staging its version of Three Musketeers on 31 Jan and 1 Feb (7.30pm) and 2 Feb (2.30 & 7.30) at Hanger Farm Arts Centre. Unlike big budget blockbusters this show is a paragon of virtue!! We have reused previous bits of set and repainted them - no new materials have been used. We're borrowing costumes from other theatre groups and....wait for it.....recycling a lot of old jokes too!

It promises to be a great night out so get your tickets while you can......or Cardinal Richelieu will be very cross (and you don't want that do you??).

Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions) and are available from Hanger Farm Arts Centre 023 8066 7683 or the Co-op Welcome store in Ashurst (Lyndhurst Road).

Choral director, composer and singer Jeremy Avis has built a reputation for his joyful engaging and slightly left-field community singing workshops.

Recently he has composed music for the Queens Diamond Jubilee River Pageant, conducted a huge project for the Cultural Olympiad and been acting on stage at the National Theatre, the RSC and in Botswana.

This 3 hour workshop will get you singing joyfully in parts, a selection of easy to learn songs that herald the coming of Spring and the joy of new seasons from places as far afield as Botswana, Bulgaria, Essex and Jeremy's own composition.

An afternoon of full-throated vocal expression and the visits to exciting new vocal territory is guaranteed!

Tickets cost £15 (to include Tea and Cake as well as singing!)

Looks like this year there are lots of films out, that are set in a future, much different from where we are now.. and its interesting to see the differences and similarities between them.

The winter solstice marks the time of the year when the darkness begins to fade and the earth prepares for a new cycle of growth.

Come and celebrate this important event in the calendar with us. New Forest Transition, working with Minstead Study Centre create for you a magical time....

We will be in the the Study Centre's Round House with a roaring fire. There will be winter tales, poems and songs to enjoy, with thoughts of the changing of the year to share. Oh - and some seasonal refreshments too!
