We will be showing some of the old favourites and a couple of more recent films in their side bar. Arrive from 7.30pm, films at 8pm.

Wednesday 10th Feb - The Power of Community (54 mins) - Cubans share how they transitioned from a highly mechanized, industrial agricultural system to one using organic methods of farming and local, urban gardens after they lost global support in the early 1990's.

Transition Lymington will be holding their second annual Spring Fair in the grounds of Priestland's School on Saturday 17th April. Come and join us, as we celebrate what is local:

Stands from local crafts people, local foods, kids crafts, face painting, seed planting, plant sale and green energy advice.

A pub, a pint on a green film night

Come and join us for a series of Green Film Nights in February and March next year. Using the side bar in the Thomas Tripp pub, opposite Waitrose, we are inviting anyone to come along and see these films for free. Dates booked so far:

Sat 26th Sept - 9.30- 12 noon. Stall outside Help the Aged, to ask the Lymington public: How can Lymington become more sustainable and more self sufficient?

Tues 29th Sept - 7.30-9.30pm. Stall at Clive Chatters talk at Lymington Community Centre, to ask the same question

Sat 7th Nov - 9.30am. Stall at Heat Exchange II, Brockenhurst College

Sat 5th Dec - 11am - 4pm. Run the Green Christmas Fair at Lymington Community Centre

2010

We will encourage people to make their New Year's Resolution and pledge:

To decrease their carbon emmissions by 10% in 2010.

We will help and support people to do this by running some film nights, showing a series of films about the problems that we are facing, but also about some simple easy solutions.

Also, look out for a famous guest to speak in early 2010.

Six of us met in the Thomas Tripp last night and discussed among other things:

the introduction of the new UK low carbon Transition Plan - just launched
the successful screening of 'The Age of Stupid' on 2nd July which was attended by 55 people
the Baptist church will be a great venue for further screenings, later in the year
'Big Lunch'es being served in Hordle, Efford, Keyhaven and Milford on Sea
how we can be involved in improving cycling facilities in Lymington
how we can link in with National campaigns - Big Lunch, Earth Hour etc...

Age of Stupid - Lymington Baptist Church

Transition Lymington are proud to announce that they will be showing - The Age of Stupid - on Thursday 2nd July at 7pm at Lymington Baptist Church, New Street, Lymington.

Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite stars as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking back at “archive” footage from 2007 and asking why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?

"We could have saved ourselves, but we didn’t. It’s amazing. What state of mind were we in, to face extinction and simply shrug it off?”

All Showings are FREE, but a suggested donation of £2 per person will cover our costs.

End of Suburbia - Lymington

Transition Lymington invite you to Lymington Baptist Church, New Street to watch The End of Suburbia. A film that looks at the dwindling supply of cheap energy in the form of fossil fuels and its effect on society. Thursday 4th June at 8pm.

The Power of Community - Milford on Sea

You are invited to Milford Community Centre on Thursday 21st May for a showing of the inspirational story of how Cuba survived their own oil crisis. Transition Lymington are having two showings of the film, one at 4pm (doors open at 3.30pm) and one at 7pm (doors open at 6.30pm).

The Community Centre will be providing refreshments for sale.

Spring Fair - This Saturday

Walled Garden at Priestlands School

Saturday 18th April

11.00am – 3.00pm FREE ENTRY

This event is being run at Priestlands School, using their walled garden as a focal point. We are raising awareness about eating local, seasonal food and buying from local businesses and crafts people.
There will also be children’s activities, fair trade café, seed planting, vegetable seedling plugs for sale, cookery demonstrations and school displays.
Come along and bring your friends and family.

Help needed at Transition Lymington's Spring Fair!

Transition Lymington are holding a Spring Fair on Saturday 18th April in the walled garden at Priestlands School.

We've got a great line-up of producers, entertainers and planting / food-related activities and the advertising campaign has started in earnest to get people along to this event!

We could do with a few more people to help out on the day though - particularly with kids' craft activities, advice on "growing your own" and talking to people about Transition. The event itself runs from 11am to 3pm

Working towards a Sustainable SO41.

Welcome to anyone living or working in the Lymington SO41 area. We are having our first open meeting on Wednesday 11th March, in Hordle at 8pm. This will be to discuss and organise our upcoming Spring Fair - Sat 18th April being held at Priestland School and walled garden.
